MCM >> Test
Test
MCMs are typically electrically tested several times during the manufacturing flow to ensure
that they have survived processing and that they meet customer specifications. A third or more
of the cost of developing an MCM can be attributed to developing those electrical and mechanical
tests - including test plans, tooling, software, etc. Decisions made early in the program can
have major impacts on not only the NRE costs, but on the recurring costs as well - including
capitalization costs for the MCM manufacturer.
