HTML Editors      (July 2007)

HTML Editors are used to edit HTML files. They often provide support for embedded scripts and for FTPing completed files to a website server.

Review Results
This review is in work. Until the review is complete, I suggest the following application for your box cover editing needs:

  • NoteTAB
NoteTAB is a essentially a text editor but provides many features for editing HTML files (which are text). It has tons of features, including batch operations (such as search & replace text) on an entire site of HTML files.

    NoteTAB sells for $30

I use NoteTAB for all of the web pages on my site - which now comprises almost 20,000 files.

HTML Editor Features
These are the minimum features that I expect from an HTML editor. Each of the candidate programs will be ranked against how well they implement the following features. As the review continues, the list of features may change.

  1. Syntax highlighting
  2. JavaScript library
  3. ... still in work

User Feedback & Suggestions
I welcome any suggestions on other HTML editor programs that should be considered, or suggestions on how better to review the selected programs.
